What is an API?
An API is an interface that allows two different
platforms or applications to communicate using a
common language.
The Textvertising API and our SMS Gateway.
Textvertising provide a gateway which can allow
your application to connect and send, SMS, PSMS
and MMS and receive SMS easily using HTTP POST
or HTTP GET.
Incoming SMS over HTTP.
When a user visits your website they may
complete a form and click submit. The
information that is sent uses HTTP POST.
Similarly, on receipt of an SMS message the
information received is HTTP posted to you using
just 5 simple parameters in exactly the same
way...
For example:
|
number: |
The person mobile number |
|
keyword: |
The keyword they text |
|
message: |
The message after the keyword |
|
time: |
The time of submission (MySQL format) |
|
network: |
The users mobile network |
Outgoing SMS and Premium rate SMS (PSMS) over
HTTP.
Outgoing SMS and PSMS is just as simple. Using
HTTP POST or HTTP GET your application can
trigger an outgoing message at either no cost to
the customer or at premium rate as agreed.
For sending "bulk text messages", our API will
also accept lots of mobile numbers in one post
provided they are separated by a simple
delimiter - which makes sending much quicker
than traditional "one by one" services.
Full delivery reports are available, and with
PSMS delivery reports (confirmation that the end
user has been charged) are HTTP POSTED back to
your application in real time. This makes
validating payment before sending content or
other information as foolproof as possible.
Outgoing MMS over HTTP.
Sending MMS with Textvertising is really easy
too. Create your own MMS ZIP files and host them
on your own platform or build them dynamically
from within your Textvertising account.
Simply HTTP post the parameters required and we
will fetch and validate the content of the file
before it is sent to ensure the best
compatibility with the handset.

Existing clients can already take advantage

API
Integration.
Our API allows you to have inbound SMS
requests (either from our Virtual Mobile number
or one of shortcodes) sent to your application
via HTTP POST.
Your server could process each request and
initiate an SMS or PSMS HTTP POST response.
We also provide dynamic delivery reports for
PSMS posts which you can request by supplying a
return URL in your HTTP POST.
We
can also offer a host of other pre-written
applications.
